Following four volumes of The Helsinki School, this new publication looks back at the development of this group of photographers over the past twenty years and traces the emergence of the Gallery Taik Persons as a vital platform for the photographic tendency bearing this name. It also focuses on current portfolios by different generations of artists associated with the photography program at the Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture. In a collection of essays, international curators, art critics, museum directors, and collectors describe their encounters with the Helsinki School, from the first exhibitions in the late nineties to the most recent generation of photographers. The texts are accompanied by installation views from international exhibitions, archival materials, and an overview of publications relating to the Helsinki School and associated artists. More than a historical survey, the book is also a look towards the future of one of the most successful concepts in contemporary photography.
