Using examples from 23 international artists, this book examines how contemporary art imitates, alienates and explores nature as own and other, and how within this process it reflects on itself and invokes nature as the elemental force. Installations, sculptures, paintings, photographs and movies show nature as a cultural construct, a projection surface for ideas, values and emotions and last but not least as our own invention.
